Using the Feminist Gaze in Ekphrastic Writing ($39)

This is an ekphrastic writing workshop designed to help identify a feminist gaze in paintings and photography. In order to do that, we analyze the male gaze. Using the ekphrastic art form, we will try writing exercises talking back to artwork identified as artists with a male gaze and talk with female-identified artists. This workshop is to give writers another way of seeing and to use a feminist gaze to inspire your writing.

Margaret R. Sáraco, a poet, short story, and memoirist, began her career writing columns about feminism and music. Margaret, who lives in NJ, has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and twice received recognition in the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Contest. Her poetry collection, If There Is No Wind (Human Error Publishing) has been widely acclaimed and available where books are sold. Even the Dog Was Quiet, her second poetry collection, will be published in 2023.
